His grandfather gave him a book titled, Chris Boningtons at the age of 8. He did his very first climbing in a shopping mall. When he was 9, he did climbing on an indoor wall in Coquitlam. After that, he went to Abbotsford where he associated gym, Project Climbing.

Then his family shifted to Agassiz in 2005. This is near the Cascade Range peaks. His interest in climbing was overloaded and he started to learn to climb on his own. He often rode his bike on rock climbing places like Harrison Bluffs. He invested many nights in the rocky areas alone.
